Transitioning Children To School
Transitioning to School Information Discussed at Term 2 meeting Stepping Stones to School programme at Bayfield School For children only, (encourages ECE’s to bring the child and stay). 5 week programme - children get signed in so can stay without parent. School worked with Ministry to get this organised. (If you have a Health and Safety policy for it and the children are signed in, there are few problems). Visit different areas of the school. Great way to get to know the children before placing in class and also build relationships with ECE. Kohia Terrace School Transition programme focuses on settling families into the school, (not just the child). 3 sessions. One session is for parents - discussion about how we teach reading/writing and maths, (while child is in the classroom).
